My assessment method

I’m Samuel Lloyd, an Elec Training NVQ Assessor. This is the route I use so learners know what comes next and the portfolio is built from genuine work.

For learners assessed by me: use this website as your route map. Tell me about upcoming jobs, book assessments at the right time, prepare for the PDs and keep collecting real evidence.
PREFERRED ROUTE

Broad-range project available

The steps below are my ideal route when your work naturally gives us a good spread of installation, second fix, testing and supporting evidence.

SMALLER JOBS

Do not have that kind of project?

That is fine. You may simply need evidence across more jobs, with shorter targeted RAs and supporting evidence focused on genuine gaps.

OPEN TARGETED EVIDENCE ROUTE

1. Tell me about the job

Contact me before the job or before the useful stage of work passes. Tell me what the work is, where it is and whether it is likely to be first fix or second fix/testing.

2. Book the site visit

3. Site visit

The visit normally focuses on either Unit 315 first fix / installation or Units 316/317 second fix, termination and testing. I will also naturally gather relevant Unit 311 evidence while observing you working safely.

4. Prepare for Unit 312

Unit 312 is normally discussed at the site visit in my process.

5. Prepare for Unit 313

Before the Unit 313 PD, upload the relevant genuine job documents into Assessment Evidence on OneFile. Then use the guide below to prepare.

6. Cover the stage I did not observe

If I observe the first-fix stage, you will normally need reflective evidence for later second fix/testing. If I observe the later stage, you will normally need reflective evidence for first fix. I will tell you what is required after reviewing the assessment evidence.

If your work does not give us enough range in one large job: we switch to the Targeted Evidence Route. Each genuine smaller job can close part of the remaining portfolio.

7. Keep collecting new evidence

Photograph new work, keep genuine work products and capture naturally occurring faults properly. Do not stage evidence.
